On January 3, 2012, EDR announced the acquisition of FirstSearch Environmental Information, which includes FirstSearch Technology Corporation, Track Info Services, Infomap Technologies, and Microdot.

Over the past 20 years, FirstSearch's founders and employees have built a successful business. Last year, the FirstSearch founders made the decision to sell their business and for the months leading up to the acquisition, they worked closely with EDR on integration plans designed to ensure a smooth transition to EDR for all FirstSearch customers.

The merging of EDR and FirstSearch databases results in a best-of-both-worlds scenario for customers of both companies. EDR clients will benefit from the addition of FirstSearch's complementary data sets to our flagship Radius Map Report. For FirstSearch customers, EDR has replicated the format of the FirstSearch Report, including the same datasets FirstSearch always provided but now powered by EDR's databases and government records updating standards. Each company's strengths have come together to produce a more compelling value proposition for our entire industry.

In June 2012, EDR announced a significant content investment program which included the integration of the Haines & Company city directory library to our existing collections. Since then, we've announced additional city directory licenses with Cole Information and InfoGroup/Polk and new aerial photography collections. And now, FirstSearch's historical resources, including the Microdot collection, will be added to EDR's historical resources. All of this activity is happening because of EDR’s commitment to the environmental assessment industry and our goal of providing customers with world class products backed by world class customer service.
