EBA Winter 2018 Conference

Leading and Lagging Indicators

For this conference, we zoom up to the 50,000 foot level to look at how programs at the state level can serve as leading indicators and also when we should not look to state programs as a model for the rest of the United States or the world.

We’ll be taking deep dives into case studies and then linking them back to these bigger trends. We’ll also look at some of the non-bank financing activity in the United States and how these institutions identify and manage environmental risks.

Call for Speakers Current EBA members are invited and encouraged to propose presentations for the January 14 - 17, 2018 conference in Newport Beach, California. To be considered for selection, please complete this submission form by September 25, 2017.

Why speak at EBA?  Our conference offers a unique opportunity to share your expertise in a friendly and accommodating environment with industry insiders and senior level managers in the environmental risk field.  Speaking at our conference may be your first step toward a future in public speaking!  We highly encourage first time speakers to submit proposals.

Education Focus

Proposed presentations should be in the 20 -25 minute range with time allowed after for questions and commentary.  While not essential, care should be given to include the banking risk management perspective.  You are encouraged to seek out banking members to contribute to your presentation and/or sit on your panel. Selected presentations will be positioned throughout the conference. We do our best to offer attendees a wide variety of topics tailored to current issues and risk drivers in the banking, real estate, and environmental fields. Speaker selections will be made to provide a diversity of voices and expertise in the key topics for our meeting, as described below.  Speakers may be scheduled into one of six main sessions for the conference on Monday, January 15, 2018 and Tuesday, January 16, 2018.  There may also be opportunities for lunch speakers or moderators.  Please indicate any time periods during those days that you cannot be available so that we can plan accordingly.

Please note that  presentations should be tailored to include a “take away for bankers” or be focused on the bankers’ perspective.

Occasionally we receive presentation proposals that may be better suited to a future conference or a different EBA educational channel, such as one of our member development conference calls or webinars.  We may forward your proposal to other committees within EBA for consideration in one of these channels.

In addition, we may request a short article for your topic to be included in our printed and online EBA Journal, which will be provided to all conference attendees upon check-in.
